Description
Rhodes is a beautiful island of Greece and belongs to the Dodecanese, in the Southern part of the Aegean Sea. The island is full of ancient treasures, beautiful beaches and medieval houses.
The first stop of our tour of the island is the Medieval City, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The elements that make Rhodes so unique are its history and its well-preserved buildings. The combination of the medieval city and the modern development of the island make it one of the most beautiful places in Greece. In the Medieval town, history buffs have the opportunity to relive the years when the island was dominated by Knights.
Our next stop is the Castle of the Knights Hospitaller, one of the best preserved in the world. It was built by the Knights of Saint John who occupied Rhodes. The history of the castle is long, as during the period of the Turkish occupation it was used by the Ottomans as a fortress, while during the period of the Italian occupation, the castle was used as the base for the respective Italian commander. Now, the Castle is an important attraction, part of which is a museum.
Our tour of Rhodes ends with a long walk through the beautiful and historic narrow streets of the city.
